Nickname - Skips/AB
A bit of a useless tosser... but leaving his luck (or lack there of) to one side, Andy has been our intrepid leader since 2012, missing very few games in that time. He does suffer with a bad back and a dodgy knee but won't let that get in the way of playing! Tops the runs scored for the club, and the most injures to one part of the body...
Nickname - Big Mac
Chris is the most prolific bowler the club has and probably ever will have. He has 1000+ wickets and isn't planning on stopping yet... Likes to tell a batsman when he is too good for them. Has also been known to talk an umpire into giving that extra wicket. Opened the batting while he was captain, but has now been relegated to number 10.
Nickname - The Hammer
Invented the Hammer shot on tour - it really had to be seen to be believed. Can often be found with Gary and a glass of rosé. Angus loves his hair and is mighty proud of his silver locks - but we let him off as it is the envy of many of his teammates.
Nickname - Badger
A wily bowler who is closing in on 300 wickets. Pete is one of the nicest men you will meet, too nice when it comes to bowling, as he has been known on more than one occasion to apologise to a batsman after getting them out. He is also a very handy batsman and regularly steps up to open the batting.
Nickname - Toad
Likened to the Duracell bunny, he keeps going and going off just a few hours sleep. Can regularly be found doing jobs, only to be interrupted by the pub. Gary has taken some unbelievable catches over the years and scored the slowest half century in memory, much to the annoyance of GA who was padded up for over two hours!
Nickname - The Pub
Dave was known to be grumpy when behind the bar at his pub. Now he has swapped to the other side of the bar, his mood has improved. A very reliable batsman who likes to hit the ball hard. He probably needs a new nickname now though!
Nickname - Timbo
Brings organisation and the power to get things done. Scores useful middle order runs, chips in with some wickets and has already been part of some important partnerships. Likes a bit of hoovering in the pavilion amongst other jobs.
Nickname - Dutch
Rob is a handy bowler who can score runs down the order too. On his day he can be unplayable, other days you might find him driving his train instead of a cricket ball. An all round nice guy who gives the team a lift when he does play.
Nickname - Bell Boy/The Engineer
Like a fine wine, he just gets better with age. Often gets a good workout behind the stumps with some wayward bowling. The club engineer, if anything needs repairing, then Stuie is your man. When not on cricket duties can be found ringing the bells at many of the local churches. or riding around on Rob's train!
Nickname - Little Sam
Sam is always early wherever he goes and loves a chat. Very good in the slips and has taken a couple of brilliant catches. Naturally practical and always willing to give a hand off the field, contributing his handyman skills with the seemingly never-ending list of renovations.
Nickname - Golden Arm/GA/Princess
A regular wicket taker, but is probably better known for his teenager-esque sulks from the sidelines! Has a propensity to take to the reverse sweep at inappropriate times and previously found in a phone box after getting out! Chris loves a good moan... it's too wet, too dry, too cold, too hot, when he is not batting or if he is not bowling enough...
Nickname - No Ball/Mr Angry
Matured into a reliable opening batsman.
Used to swing at every ball, but now scores most of his runs in more traditional fashion, which helped him to a club record 1035 in 2022. Jan is still happy to hit the first ball of the match for six if the mood suits him, and has been known to shout at umpires even though they are correct.
Nickname - Elburs
Andrew is always willing to help out at the club and is regularly one of the first people to arrive before a match. Gives his all when bowling and scores handy runs with the bat in the middle order. It would help if he didn't sometimes run the wrong way when fielding!
Nickname - Cal
Callum has quickly become a club regular, and is an asset both on and off the pitch. He is a great all round player, bringing runs with the bat, pace with the ball and an ability to catch unlike most of the team. Good job his cricket is better than his time keeping...
Nickname - Reg/Reggie
Young, enthusiastic, and a very good player already. He can bat, bowl, field and keep, the only thing that needs improvement is his darts and pool. Would net every day if he could, some weeks he probably does... the words eat, sleep, cricket repeat have never been so apt.
Nickname - Floater
Colin has been bowling up the hill for years and is 5th in the all-time wickets for the club, with just shy of 400. He chips in with runs too and is one of few that have batted everywhere between 1 and 11. He often goes quietly about his business, but is known to chat more after a few beers.
Nickname - Justin
When he is able to take time out from his busy hockey schedule, Justin has proven a very useful asset with the bat and with his pace in the field. He can also chip in with the ball and currently holds the highest score record for the club with 162.
Nickname - Bingo
King of the champagne moment, the cricket pitch is not Bingo's natural habitat, but there is never a dull moment when he is on the field! Occasionally hits a car when throwing the ball back from the car park, and is known to be faster across the ground than GA.
Nickname - Mouthy
Known for his fitness as much as his cricket, Robbie will run all day. A very handy fielder who can chip in with the odd wicket here and there. Appears to have spent a few winters in the nets rather than the gym and has learnt how to bat!
Nickname - Kyle
Another newbie, Kyle has taken a few wickets for the club and is showing the potential to be a decent bowler. Now we just need to work on bringing his cricket up to the same level as his pool and darts!
Nickname - Reece
Reece has only recently taken up cricket after being persuaded to come along during a game of darts. Now firmly part of the Thursday Night Club, whilst he may lack experience on the cricket pitch he more than makes up for it with this enthusiasm for the game.
Nickname - Bardfield Kev
More than just a Sunday man, Kev is always willing to lend a hand with the pitch and take any knowledge he learns back to his regular side.
Nickname - Mikey
Mike is an entertainer, he loves banter with the opposition and always gives 110% in the field. A match is always better with him in the side.
Nickname - Sammy
All around nice guy who is cricket mad after many years of not playing. Very useful around social media and always willing to help out. Improving game on game and another left arm option on the bowling.
Nickname - Bearded Ferret/Duckmeister
Paul just loves a duck, he has accumulated over 50 of them while playing for Eastons, and he hasn't finished yet... He is known for his OCD and regularly keeps the grammar within the WhatsApp group in check.
Nickname - Goose
Bigger and better than a duck! Kev's known for his batting, but not in a good way! (Taking a record 10 ducks in a single season). He is our club handyman, good with anything made of wood... except a cricket bat!
Nickname - Pussems
Ben is quiet and extremely laid back, but effective with the bat. He hasn't been a regular since the arrival of his firstborn, but still makes the odd appearance. Still holds the record average with 103.89 from 2013.
Nickname - Jonty
Andrew is a lesser spotted player for Eastons, but when he does play he turns the ball a long way. Hopefully we will see more of him in future seasons. He is very good in the field and can chip in with the bat too.
Nickname - Todd
Todd is one of three Gilberts to play for the club. Steps in when we are short and was once asked to bowl when there was no-one else left, but took two wickets in an over.
Nickname - Jar-Jar/Batsman
A one time regular, Toby made a couple of guest appearances in 2021, scoring 50 in his first match back. He regularly confuses the scorer when shouting his name, and once hit 50 at Lindsell solely in sweeps.
Nickname - Little Chris
Chris was a brilliant opening batsman who was taken from us far too early in 2019.
He took some great catches for Eastons and was a very handy leg spinner. He was quiet but always made people laugh and was known to have a devil tattoo on his backside. There is now an award in his memory for any outstanding achievement over the course of a season.
